The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) allows state residents to add emergency contact information online.
The information is then available to law enforcement personnel, who can share it with emergency medical services.
The free service is available at https://www.scdmvonline.com/dmvpublic
Look on the bottom right of the page and click Provide An Emergency Contact
Then enter your SC Drivers License or State Identification Card number, followed by your SSN, and Date of Birth.
On the final screen, enter the emergency contact information and click submit.
The information may be changed at anytime using the same process.
This service is of great assistance to law enforcement and medical personnel. Please encourage your friends and relatives to participate in the program.
Editors Note: I was unable to locate a similar service for the North Carolina DMV.
